I just wanted to give you a quick update in case you were wondering how my dad is. Radiation is going well and already is showing some results. Volunteers are supposed to be lined by the American Cancer Society to take him back and forth to treatment the next three weeks.
It is a huge change for him not to be able to drive and I'm sure none of us would adapt well to that sudden loss of freedom. The life care facility he lives in does have transport vans but of course you have to go on their schedule. We are putting together options and making a little progress.
I wish I could stay longer but am glad I could take this week to help him out. I should be back home by Monday. On the bright side, the fall weather has been beautiful. I think October may be my favorite month of the year in the Midwest. Glad I got to experience a little taste of it!

My great grandma turned 85, took one last drive in her 56 Pontiac with her dog, came home, put her car up for sale and sent her driver's license to the DMV with a note saying "I am too damned old to drive." I loved that woman. I hope someday I've got that much courage--but I don't see it happening. I'll be driving until they pry my car from around the nearest tree. *hugs* for your Dad--it's a tough moment.
I take driving for granted. When I dislocated my ankle, I wasn't allowed to drive for 6 weeks and I went crazy depending on others. It would feel like a defeat somehow. I think the American Cancer Society volunteers are special people. They give so much of themselves.
Sorry to hear about your dad, that has to be hard. Thanks for always leaving nice comments on my blog and reading! I am getting excited about India but I really wasn't expecting such a large city. I hope I can be in a kind of suburb-y area. I am not really good with huge groups of people. I am too little and end up getting shoved around.
