A short note

I promise I will get back in to the swing of things with the blog, but not today. Racing through my "to do" list before heading to Phoenix to spend the weekend with my daughter and go to a hockey game.

Still working on Guitar Guy's socks and dropped a stitch on the Monkey Sock so it is sitting on the coffee table until I'm ready to deal with it.

Where did spring go?

In typical SW fashion, we suddenly went from wonderful springtime coolish daytime temps to almost summertime heat. Mornings and evenings are great but I almost had to put air conditioning on in the car today!

Ran errands this afternoon as I usually do. Finished grocery shopping and realized everyone around me was wearing shorts and tank tops (always a good clue). The car was hot, but it is AZ, so didn't think too much about it. Looked down at my car thermometer and it said 86 degrees outside. Uh Oh.

Got home to discover the house was 79 degrees INSIDE! I still have sweaters sitting on the kitchen table from the last load of laundry. Don't think I'll be needing those puppies any more this year.

The good news is I might fit in to some of my spring clothes from 6 or 7 years ago now that I've lost weight. The bad news is, I'm probably going to have to buy some clothes - one of my least favorite activities.

Off to open windows and enjoy what little is left of the coolness before blistering temps return again.

A beautiful spring day

Wish I had a photo to show you, but it was the most beautiful spring day today. I actually took an hour off this afternoon and went down to walk by the lake. I'll try to remember my camera the next time I go.

Didn't get my Monkey Sock done but did get through the gusset so feel like I'm on the home stretch. I think I made this pair a little small so guess I'll have to wash and block for maximum stretch. I also need to learn to darn as I wore a hole in one of my favorite Spring Forward socks. I knew the yarn was a little soft for socks but was still learning about such things a year ago. It's not like I don't have enough yarn to make more :-)

The cats won't leave me alone since I got home! I guess being gone 17 days out of 21 was too much for them. I woke up with 17 lbs. of cat on my chest the last two nights. That's bad enough, but his brother was laying across my feet, making it difficult to move. Spent the morning at the vet with Icey our 21 year old cat. It appears she now has a chronic urinary tract infection and gallstones. They have to consult a specialist because of her age, so we are still waiting on recommendations.

Tomorrow is the first day of a learning community I am facilitating for nonprofit executives. Although I've been part of such communities, I've never been one in charge. Should be interesting. In a month I'll start another one in a neighboring community. They are really excited about making visionary change practical in their community.

You know I can't end the day without Rowan (who is actually walking now!! - look out world)

Grandmahood

Had a great time with Rowan over the weekend. Being the Grandma definitely has its good points like not getting up in the night :-) Spent most of the day Friday with the baby while his parents were at work. We had a great time dancing to the Bob the Builder MegaMix on YouTube. He thinks I'm a very cool grandmother.

Good thing he took two naps though because by afternoon I needed one too. There is a reason to have children when you are young - energy!

Now I'm spending the week with dad getting his errands done and reminiscing. Always a nice time and I'm so grateful that I can take the time to spend with him.

Now I'm off to start on a second Monkey Sock. I made the first one a year ago. I might just go home with a pair.
